How can I determine which DSS endpoint to update when downloading a new version?

Answer

To determine which endpoints to update for each DSS version, do the following:

  1. Ensure you are registered with the Data Source Solutions server. For more information, see our DSS 6 Licensing documentation.
  2. In Data Source Solutions, ensure the correct account name appears in the top left corner.
  3. Navigate to Account Settings > Downloads.
  4. Locate the release notes file for the DSS version you plan to upgrade to, and click to download it.

The release notes download file we provide for each DSS version is the same for each operating system.

5. Scroll through the release notes in the file for guidance on necessary updates. You’ll find phrases like “To use this feature, upgrade DSS on all machines” or “To fix this bug, upgrade DSS on the capture machine.”

To use the feature described in the following release note, you must upgrade DSS on all machines:

NEW FEATURES IN DSS 6.1.0/51 (2024-04-22)
[T-199209] AUTOMATICALLY CREATE CRASH REPORT FILES ON DISK FOR F_JG200A SEGMENTATION FAULT ERRORS:
To use this feature, upgrade DSS on all machines.

If you connect to your source or target system without an DSS agent, and the release notes suggest updating your capture or integrate machine, you must upgrade the Hub machine instead.
